A beacon provides guidance. Commonly located in positions that are easily visible to all, beacons are a comforting source of direction towards safety.
The needs of the community on the ground have been evolving dynamically, along with the ups and downs of the Covid-19 pandemic. The NHCS team has expanded rapidly in response! We continue to serve our clients, developing creative ways to engage with them and helping them to grow.
But it’s not enough. We need your help! Donations are a major source of our income and dedicated volunteers who partner with us are integral in helping us cover more ground. We can’t be everywhere at once after all!
At New Hope Community Services, we believe that everyone can be a Beacon of New Hope for the displaced and disadvantaged.
We started this online platform to help you become a beacon for others in two ways:Whether you’re an individual who wants to share more about this cause with your friends, or a team of colleagues looking to make a meaningful difference together, everyone is invited to join us in our mission to restore hope.
Will you join us in speaking up, serving others, and restoring hope?
All donations made on this platform will receive dollar-for-dollar matching as part of the Tote Board's Enhanced Fundraising Programme. In addition, all donations above $50 are eligible for 250% tax deduction.New Hope Community Services is a social service agency and a member of the National Council of Social Services. Our goal goes beyond providing temporary shelter to the homeless in Singapore; we want to infuse them with real hope to see their lives changed.
Our work began in 2003 when four homeless men approached Pastor Andrew Khoo (our Founder & CEO) seeking refuge. Deeply moved by a need that had not been met by social services then, Ps Andrew set up the Shelter for Men-in-Crisis, Singapore’s first shelter for homeless male ex-offenders. A year later, New Hope Community Services was born.
Since then, we have steadily expanded to meet the growing needs for temporary shelter in our community. We also recognise that building thriving and resilient families and individuals requires more than just a roof over their heads. As such, we run various services and programmes that help our clients break out of the poverty cycle and achieve long term financial resilience and independence.
Corporate InformationHomelessness exists in Singapore. In spite of being one of the wealthiest countries in the world with all the outward forms of affluence, Singapore's invisible poor lurks as foreboding spirits in the night, presenting a disconcerting social issue.
